Daon Names Ari Schuler as Vice President of Emerging Markets

Seasoned Policy and Technology Innovator Joins Daon’s Leadership Team to Support Market Expansion and Growth

AriSchulerFAIRFAX, VA (JANUARY 22, 2020) – Daon, a global leader in biometric identity technology, today announced that Ari Schuler has been named Vice President of Emerging Markets. As part of Daon’s leadership team, Schuler will be responsible for developing business and managing the delivery of products and services for global market expansion of the award-winning IdentityX® platform, focusing on emerging technology verticals where Daon’s proven capabilities enhance security and user experience.

Schuler brings a unique blend of innovation experience in both the public and private sectors.  He joins Daon from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), where he created and led the CBP Innovation Team (INVNT), a Silicon Valley-style entity focused on leveraging commercial and disruptive startup technology for government applications. Under Schuler’s leadership, CBP INVNT built a reputation for successfully investing in, piloting, and deploying technologies which enabled more efficient and safer operations for CBP personnel. Schuler also served as an advisor to the CBP Commissioner on information technology and innovation matters and worked within CBP’s Office of Information Technology.

“Ari Schuler brings a proven track record of helping complex organizations leverage innovative and new technologies to advance their operations,” said Tom Grissen, CEO, Daon. “We are excited to add Ari to our leadership team and believe he will be a tremendous asset to our efforts in opening new market verticals.”

Schuler first joined the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in October 2011 as the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary for Science and Technology. In this role, he focused on issues where technology, security, and policy intersected, such as aviation security, counterterrorism, and biodefense.

Prior to entering federal service, Schuler worked at Raydiance, Inc., a fiber ultrafast laser company spun out of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Schuler served as the Director of Government Initiatives for Raydiance where he built a robust government portfolio designed to advance the company’s commercial roadmap and develop capabilities for the U.S. government.

“As the world has gone digital, it has become increasingly clear that trust and authenticity are an essential piece of the puzzle,” said Schuler. “Daon has a world-leading product, a top-notch team, and it is uniquely positioned to be a critical enabler of authentication and verification. I am excited to join this team and leverage my experience in deploying innovative technologies into complex business operations.”

The announcement follows a transformative year for Daon in terms of accelerating user adoption of client deployments, new leadership appointments and the most significant product enhancement to the IdentityX platform in years.
