We are looking for an individual who enjoys a hands-on environment and capable of making an immediate contribution. The ideal candidate will be well versed in day-to-day technical support functions of a Windows based network, Veritas/Symantec Backup Systems, Active Directory, and SMS. Perform tasks that may include server migrations and upgrades with SMS, Blade servers, provision high-end Storage Area Networks, support firewall and VPN configurations as well as work with Cisco Switches and Routers and SAN fabric solutions. The ideal candidate shall have experience with F5 Big IP and/or 3-DNS, CISCO LAN/WAN technologies, Virtualization, Archiving, and Disaster Recovery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, support and upgrade servers and LAN/WAN hardware devices. Troubleshoot network problems, understanding of Windows networking and LAN/WAN fundamentals with Cisco devices.
- Maintain, support and expand the Active Directory and LAN/WAN environment.
- Assist with ISP vendor relationship. Have core competency in network fundamentals, switches, routers, firewalls, IDS, IPS, and VPN.
- Assist in Disaster Recovery, Archiving and Backups & Restores including: backup tape rotation, disaster recovery solutions, Data Archiving, Volume Shadow Copy, SAN replication.
Required skills and experience:
- 5+ years experience in a government IT LAN/WAN engineering with hands-on network and security experience
- Demonstrated ability to administer and engineer distributed network of switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
- Outstanding trouble-shooting and organizational skills (networking issues)
- 3+ years of experience with government security protocols, certification and accreditation processes (SP 800-53, OMB A-130)
- Ability to work well in a team, and to interact with all levels of people both internally and externally
- Ability to work well under pressure and juggle many tasks at any given time
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, or have related work experience in the field of IT for 5+ years.
- CCNA Required
- MCSE - Windows 2003 desirable
- CISSP desirable
