Summary:
The Technical Product Manager is responsible for product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle, including: market research, gathering and prioritizing product requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and professional services to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met and products can be delivered to customers. The Product Manager also ensures that the product supports the company's overall strategy and goals.
In addition to product line management the Product Manager will be responsible for defining assigned solution sets for which his/her product, along with other products from Daon or partners, come together in a holistic solution to a customers business problems. The Product Manager will treat these solutions as products themselves with research, analysis, and fact-based internal and external communication.
A successful candidate must be able to communicate with all areas of the company. The Product Manager will work with an engineering counterpart to define and document product release requirements. Additionally the product manager will work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer while provide content to marketing materials. Most importantly, the product manager will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for assigned product offerings by working with the sales channel and key customers.
We are seeking Product Managers who have demonstrated past success and accomplishments as Product Managers and have a desire to be a strong individual contributor. Successful candidates will be adept at bridging the business and technology gap – capable of speaking with both technologists and business managers to bring the right products and solutions to market. Candidates must be flexible and capable of operating in a fast-growing company on the leading edge of technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
- Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers, partners, and potential customers.
- Driving a solution set across development teams (primarily Development/Engineering, and Marketing Communications) through market requirements, product contract, and positioning.
- Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute.
- Analyzing potential partner relationships for the product.
- Interviewing customers to determine their business objectives, understand their technical needs and determine willingness to pay for a solution. Identify use cases that illustrate what an ideal and marketable solution would need to accomplish.
- Writing whole product requirements documents that identify the key features necessary to win in the market, use cases that help drive the overall product design, personas to ensure that we understand the users and buyers of the product, and cross functional deliverables (services, training, documentation, demos, etc.) needed to drive adoption of the product.
- Managing the “whole product” lifecycle process, ensuring successful delivery and adoption of solutions.
- Preparing and presenting R&D investment proposals and driving business planning.
- Analyzing competitor offerings to identify feature differences and determining an appropriate course of action.
- Participate in selected sales engagements.
- Analyzing customer wins and losses to determine implications for product enhancements.
- Acting as an expert with respect to the competition and trends in the marketplace
- Acting as a leader within the company: evangelize the solution to key stakeholders and engineers to drive the adoption
- Supporting Marketing and communications as the subject matter and product expert
Requirements:
- 3+ years of software marketing/product management experience.
- Some previous technical background with security products is desired, specifically biometrics or Identity and Access Management.
- Familiar with Pragmatic Marketing Framework, preferably Pragmatic Marketing Certified.
- Knowledgeable in technology with Computer Science or Engineering degree.
- Analytical, logical and fact-oriented – with the ability to think strategically and act tactically.
- Ability to travel to customer and non-customer sites and other Daon offices (25%).
